My journey with art began as a curious child in Krakow, Poland. When I was two years old, my first drawings were with a stick in wet sand. With my mother being an artist and my father an engineer, they were proud of my creativity. However, much to their consternation, I loved to take my mother’s make-up only to make an art kit out of them. Then I would proudly proceed to change the color of the furniture and put faux finishes on the walls. I was unstoppable and am surprised that I survived my childhood!
This need to create, lead to my pursuit of an education in art. I studied all forms of art - painting, drawing, sculpting, graphics and interior design. I enjoyed it all!
My career in the art world started as an interior designer for the public libraries in Krakow, Poland. Although I was free to use my artistic skills, it was not creative enough. I began to study jewelry design and fell in love with it. I left the library for IMAGO ARTIS, a jewelry company that allowed me to use my creativity to the fullest by not setting any boundaries. The only condition they required of me was to create one of a kind designs. My sculptural jewelry pieces were very well received in Poland and abroad.
Through twist of events, my journey brought me to Milwaukee where I have spent the last twenty some years raising a family while pursuing my artistic dreams. I never stopped creating and always tended to my first love – painting!
My passion for creating is a delicate balance of intuition, fluctuation of control, careful planning, letting go and then bringing it all back into focus. I find this challenging and very stimulating. This compels me to work in different media, constantly experimenting and searching for new facets of expression. Oil painting gives me freedom in the application along with the ability to make significant revisions while acrylics cause me to pause a little and reflect on issues of control and spontaneity. My abstract work is not only the result of imagination and playfulness with colors, layers, contrasts and textures, but like my florals and landscapes, is a reflection of the beauty around us and inspiration by complexities of nature.
Over the years I participated in several art shows and created commissioned works. I have enjoyed and have been gratified by the public response to my art and overwhelmed by having a sell-out showing. This year, I have been accepted to participate in several art shows in Wisconsin and Illinois. I’m very humbled and excited about this honor! |
